Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes

  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup beef stock
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon cold water

Instructions

  1. Set the pressure cooker to sauté and heat the oil. Once the oil is hot, add the beef cubes and brown for about 5 minutes. Once the beef is browned, add the onion and garlic and cook for another 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the paprika, pepper, caraway seeds, and salt. Pour in the beef stock, tomato sauce, parsley, marjoram, and bay leaf. Lock the lid on the pressure cooker and set to cook at high pressure for 20 minutes.
  3. Once the cooking time is done, allow the pressure to release naturally. Once the pressure is released, remove the lid and stir the goulash.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and cold water. Pour the mixture into the goulash and stir to thicken. Simmer for a few minutes to allow the sauce to thicken.
  5. Serve the goulash with a side of egg noodles or mashed potatoes. Enjoy!
